Honoring God's Names

“Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.” — Psalm 9:10

Why is it important to honor God's Names?

1.  It Reflects Reverence and Awe

Each of God’s names reveals part of His nature, character, and how He relates to His people. When you take time to know, meditate on, and study His names, it shows:

  • That you honor who He is, not just what He does.

  • That you’re seeking to understand Him more intimately.

2. It Magnifies His Glory

Honoring the names of God teaches you who He is—Jehovah Jireh (Provider), El Shaddai (All-Sufficient), Yahweh Shalom (Peace), and so on. This glorifies God because:

  • You're focused on His identity, not your own insights or story.
  • You’re declaring His goodness, faithfulness, and power across generations.

3.  It Strengthens Faith

Discovering the Names of God helps you by:

  • Anchoring your faith in the unchanging nature of God.

  • Empowering you to call on God rightly in prayer and worship based on His revealed names.

4. It Honors the Hebrew & Biblical Roots

Many names of God are rich with cultural and historical context (Hebrew roots, covenant promises).

Exploring the Names of God:

  • Preserves spiritual heritage.

  • Connects readers with the fullness of Scripture.

5.  It Aligns with God’s Heart for Proclamation

God often told His people to remember His name and make it known:

“I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore the peoples will praise You forever and ever.” — Psalm 45:17

6. It Invites Deeper Relationship

Knowing someone’s name is a gateway to intimacy. Discovering God’s names helps you to:

  • Go deeper in relationship with Him.

  • Enter into deeeper intimacy and trust.
